A man and his chainsaw

Three weeks ago Craig decided that if we were going to own property he needed a chainsaw.  This is legitimate.  We have to clear some brush to keep it looking attractive and maintain the land.  So he goes to the Blount Co-op to buy a good chainsaw that will last for a while.  I have to give them props…they were great to work with.  The day after he bought it Kyle, Craig and I headed over to the lot to take down a tree that had fallen.  A huge stump was all that was standing.  I was very impressed with Craig’s ability to take it down.  First cutting the wedge and then going from the other side.  I was nervous and but cheered him on.  Granted this was no little tree…HUGE!  Two weeks ago, we went back out to take down a tree that was dead and we were fearful it could fall in the road and into the neighbors yard.  Luckily the lot next to ours is vacant.  He figured if he could get the tree to land in the vacant lot it would be a success.  Now, I was very nervous at this.  We moved the cars far away to the cul-de-sac.  The tree was covered in poison ivy.  (More on that in a moment).  He started to cut the wedge and then cut the other side to allow it to fall where planned.  Guess what?  IF FELL WHERE HE PLANNED!  I was so excited for him and proud of him.  This is a one man job so there was nothing I could do.  The tree was loud when it hit the ground.  Head over to the photo gallery under the land album to see the process of the tree and to see how big it was.  It was not a small maple!  Good going “Axeman”!

As far as the poison ivy…He had his share of poison ivy.  You will notice by the picture he had on long sleeves and pants.  He got it pretty good on his wrist!

You mean Craig dropped the tree where he planned in spite of the advice he got from his dad? I’m impressed. These two did good for a couple computer geeks.
