A visit to the Market…
I meant to blog about this a couple of weeks ago but other things have happened since then…
A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time to go to a family market and buy a couple dozen ears of corn and some tomatoes. I was really excited about this because I have never gone to a family market alone to do this. I was curious as to how to pick out the corn and how to find a GOOD tomato. That is hard to do these days. I was thinking this would be a good place to go because there would be older people there that would be willing to help. There are 2 markets in the county that are family owned and operated. I decided to go to the smaller of the two because I would receive better help.
I drove up excited to learn. As I walked in I was stared down by a lady behind the counter. Obviously I was not a “regular”. That should had been my first clue to leave. But I did not. At the corn table, another lady was picking through the corn. I thought she worked there but she was a customer. She was peeling back a little bit of the corn to see if it was good or not. Okay, I had seen this done before. Craig and others had told me to do this. So I started to peel back the husk just a little to see if it was what I wanted. The other lady left and another person probably in her forties or so walked out from the back and stood over me and watched every move I made. I was trying to make conversation with her and ask her how to pick out good corn. She gave no advice. She continued to pick out all the corn that I had put back and made the comment, “I cannot sell this. The corn is going to dry out.” Then she walked to the back and said, “Guys, guess we are having corn for lunch.” I was now upset at her attitude but I had been here for 45 minutes. I was hot and over-pregnant. Please don’t make me upset…I just may cry. So I picked up my 24 ears of corn and went to the tomatoes. I asked the lady behind the counter, “How do you know if these tomatoes are good?” She said, “They would not be out if they were not good!” OKAY…I HAD HAD IT! Take my money, I will never go back!
So this is what I learned…Whenever you have a chance to teach someone, do it! Do not brush them off to the side. They are eager to learn. What an opportunity they missed. I guess next time I will go to the Coning Family Market down the road.

Wow, I would have set everything on the counter and let them re-stock it all with their crappy attitude. People like that don’t get a dime from me.
So who was it? Let me know so I can tell everyone not to go there
I definitely would have not bought anything from them. Like the dude said, just leave it there and let ‘em know where they can kiss ya.
