Our mini vacation

This past weekend Craig and I enjoyed a mini vacation.  On Thursday we drove to Atlanta for the Stephen Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith concert on Friday night.  As of Tuesday we did not have a hotel room.  We were going to meet our friends Andy and Joanna on Friday.  I knew the area they were staying so I got on Priceline.com to get a room.  Lets just say Craig and I got a $179 room for $50 at the Hyatt Regency!  It was great.  Perfect for us with Eliana in that it was a suite.  We had plenty of room.  So we drove down on Thursday and met Kate and Drew.  It was great to see her and to meet Drew.  We ate at Pappadeaux in Marrietta.  But guess who we saw?  Okay, you will never guess.  We sat two tables down from the THUNDERBIRDS!  How cool is that?  If I had my camera I would have had to have them take a picture with Eliana.  She would have loved it! Or, I would have loved it.  Friday, we took Eliana to Athens to meet my parents.  She had her first overnight trip away from us.  She did great!  It is good to hear when your child does very good.  I don’t know if I was more worried for my parents or for her.  Then we met Andy and Joanna for dinner and on to the concert.  We enjoyed the concert.  I would say we enjoyed Stephen more than Michael.  Stephen Curtis Chapman (SCC) puts on a great conert.  He is very real and down to earth.  I felt like he was just being himself.

Saturday, unfortunately we went on to Clemson for the Georgia Tech game.  The only highlight of the day was how we got there…We were sitting on Highway 76 trying to get into Clemson.  Of course traffic is barely moving.  At this point we were not going to make it to kick off and that was an hour and half away.  We were sitting at the turnoff off for the Garrison arena.  We wondered where that road would take us and decided to try it out.  As we turned we plugged it in the GPS and it said to turn right…I looked and there was only a dirt road to the right.  So, you guessed it, we took it!  I am not sure how fast you are supposed to drive down a dirt road but we left a trail of dust.  I saw parts of Clemson that I did not know existed.  If you need the Swine Center, call me.  It was perfect though.  We ended up right where we needed and had time to hike across campus, eat lunch, and make kickoff!  Sorry for all of you still stuck in traffic!  After the game we ate and headed to Washington to pick up Eliana and back to Maryville on Sunday.  Yes, we travelled a lot but we had a great time!
