First Sewing Project
For Christmas I was given a sewing machine. I have wanted one for a while but I was unsure how to use it. This past summer Ms. Erla helped me make valences for our breakfast area on her sewing machine. I really enjoyed using the machine and was quite impressed with the outcome. So Dave and Erla gave me a sewing machine. Daddy always said I needed to take Sewing 101 in college (Sorry Daddy that is not a course at Clemson). For about a month and a half I let the machine sit in the box because I was scared to use. I did not want to break it and I was clueless. I decided to get it out and play around. My mom and I went to Hobby Lobby (a love/hate store) and I purchased some scrap fabric. I decided to make a nursing cover. I bought one of these at the hospital on a whim because I was tired of fighting the blanket. Once I opened the package I was amazed at how easy this was to make and a whole lot cheaper! So here it is…three weeks later and probably 2000 stitches later. Yes, I have had to redo and take many stitches out.
I plan on making more of these and selling them. Although, I am not sure the cost yet. I know you can find them in different stores and on ebay. Hopefully I can get something going with it. I really enjoyed making it and plan on doing other types of projects. Hopefully Eliana will have a few cute dresses for the summer. We will have to see if I can master anything besides the straight stitch. Although, patterns will help.
