We moved this weekend! What a weekend! We are still tired and still unpacking. We were blessed to have Eliana stay at my parents in GA for 5 days. I am sure it felt like an eternity to them! She had fun and is worn out. We have rented a storage unit and for 2 weeks or so Craig has worried that our stuff would not fit. I had to be positive and tell him not to worry about it! It will all be fine. Saturday came and it started early by trying to round up our two cute and adorable cats. HA! Our plan was to catch Molly first since she is the devil cat. No such luck. So we had to let them be and keep the doors closed as we moved. We had Molly trapped in the bathroom and Kitty in another room. We Kitty got out of that room and disappeared. Aline said she went upstairs and someone else saw her downstairs. I did not worry about her until I started to look for her. No such luck. I saw the look on Craig’s face and knew she was missing. I started to look outside and she was nowhere. About 10 minutes later Dave found her wrapped up in my heating blanket in the closet. I had looked in the closet but not IN the blanket! She was curled up and hiding. By this point the guys were heading out with the first load in the UHaul. Jenny, Aline and I stayed behind. Our mission: to round up the cats! I was able to get Kitty with not much of a problem. I am not sure if Aline and Jenny were fully aware of what Molly could do and what noises she could make while trying to round her up. I went in to the bathroom and sat on the tub while she growled and purred at the same time. I finally got in the tub with my towel in hand and she let out the most horrible noises ever. Jenny came in with the carrier and with one swoop she was in! Now, I am not sure if you get excited about little things but here are three girls celebrating and high fiving because we got a cat in the carrier! It was great! Now on to taking them to their new home…the basement of Dave and Erla’s. They made it okay. Later that evening when we were basically done Craig and I went down to check on them. No cats around. Where are they? I looked up and saw that two tiles in the ceiling were moved from a previous leak. No. They could not be up there. No way. But Kitty loves to climb and jump. Still. No way. YES WAY! Kitty was in the ceiling! Craig was able to get her down. Now we had to find Molly. Happened to find Molly behind the couch still hissing at me! Quickly closed up the ceiling! They are now adjusting to new life. Molly has stopped hissing at me but stays her distance. Kitty is all over the place!

Thanks to all who helped us! It was greatly appreciated!

Kitty has found a new hiding place. Recently she has enjoyed sitting in front of the tall bathroom cabinet. One day I opened the door and she jumped on the second shelf. This morning I had some towels there and she jumped to that spot anyway. Somehow she managed to get behind the towels and enjoy some alone time. She is strange. Yesterday Joanna gave me Spider Plant and Purple Heart that she had rooted. I have put them in our bathroom around the tub since it gets a lot of light. Well, our two adorable cats have discovered those as well and have enjoyed munching on them. I guess I have to move them now. I don’t have to baby proof…I have to cat proof!

I have to say “Friends” is a very nice term I am using to describe my cats, Kitty and Molly. I would rather use the terms “Pests”, “Devils”, or something more explicit. I will refrain and call them “Friends”. Let me tell you what they decided to do this morning…

Today was the day the carpet people were coming to clean the carpet and clean/seal the tile. So naturally, I have to put the cats up so they do not escape out the door. Not a big deal, so I thought. I have to put them in the garage and let them be comfortable in a hot room for a couple of hours. Not a problem…WRONG! I started to round them up about 8:40 a.m. by opening the door to the garage and let them make their way out there on their own. Here is the first mistake, Molly has never been out there and she is skeptical. She stands at the door and looks at it like, “It is hot, why should I go out there?” Kitty is out there sniffing and doing whatever a normal cat does. Next problem, carpet people show up and slam their truck doors…Cats take off inside! Let the chase begin…off comes my sweater and shoes and hair goes in a ponytail (I am dressed for work). Kitty runs up stairs to her “spot”. (Under the TV stand amongst Craig’s box of cords and other things) So I go get one of the men for help. He is trying to capture Molly and I am trying to get Kitty. He grabs some boxes to make a route to the garage for Molly but she is a cat, she jumps them. I finally get Kitty and throw her in the smaller room within the garage. One down, one more to go…Molly has resorted to hissing in the laundary room. I let her calm down and try to gain her trust. Here is another mistake, being the mother I am to these so-called cats, I go to the garage to get her the water bowl because she starts to pant and I think she is about to die. I grab a dish towel and I am able to grab her. AMEN!!!! Out to the garage she goes! One thing, I forgot to put her water back in the garage. So I try to open the door to put it out and in she runs! She made me spill water all over the floor…Tempers are flaring and tears are coming. I AM only one month from delivery! What am I thinking? Why do I care about this stupid cat? Molly is back in the laundary room behind the door hissing. I am able to grab her with the towel again as she wedges herself in a corner. I throw her out and get Kitty out of the smaller closet! DONE! NO MORE! DO NOT OPEN THAT DOOR! The time is now 9:20 a.m.

Carpet people call to tell me they are done a couple hours later. I go home and let them back in the house…where are they? I honestly cannot find them. I start to panic and then realize they cannot get out. Finally found Molly under the toolbox stuffed in a corner looking pitiful. I don’t have sympathy. Never found Kitty, I just left the door open to the kitchen and she appeared. All in all, they are okay. They did not die. BUT, they are not my friends.

We will continue to have these cat stories…more to come later.
